Katharina Luther parlor Torgau

The life and work of Luther's courageous wife

The Katharina Luther parlour commemorates the work of Luther's courageous wife. It is located in her last home, where Katharina died in December 1552.

For Katharina von Bora, Torgau was of great importance in two ways. It was here that her bourgeois life began after her escape from the convent. A good 30 years later, her life's journey ended here.

Her death house is located at Katharinenstraße 11, where the only memorial in Germany has been set up in her honor.

The exhibition in the Renaissance house tells in biographical highlights about her eventful life at the side of the world-famous reformer and remembers the courageous woman and strong personality.
